Submission Terms & Conditions

Thank you for your interest in submitting work to RiffRaff Magazine. By submitting material to RiffRaff Magazine, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. Ownership & Rights

You affirm that:

  • The submitted work is your original creation, or you otherwise possess full rights and permission to submit it.

  • The work does not knowingly infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, privacy rights, or intellectual property rights of any third party.

  • Any collaborators, models, performers, or contributors involved in the work have granted permission for submission and publication where applicable.

Contributors retain ownership of their original work unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.

2. Grant of Permission

By submitting work to RiffRaff Magazine, you grant the magazine permission to:

  • Review and evaluate the submission

  • Store submitted materials for editorial consideration

  • Display accepted work digitally and/or in print

  • Promote accepted work through RiffRaff Magazine’s website, social media, marketing materials, and related promotional content

This permission applies only if the work is selected for publication unless otherwise discussed with the contributor.

3. Publication & Editorial Rights

If accepted for publication:

  • RiffRaff Magazine reserves the right to format, resize, crop, proofread, or lightly edit submitted material for publication consistency while respecting the integrity of the original work.

  • Significant edits will not be made without discussion when reasonably possible.

  • Publication timing, issue placement, and presentation format remain at the discretion of the editorial team.

Submission does not guarantee publication.

4. Simultaneous Submissions

Simultaneous submissions are permitted unless otherwise stated in a specific submission call.

However, if your work is accepted elsewhere after submission to RiffRaff Magazine, we ask that you notify us promptly so we may update our records.

5. Previously Published Work

Unless explicitly stated in a submission call, previously published work may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Please disclose prior publication history when submitting.

This includes:

  • personal websites

  • blogs

  • social media

  • online portfolios

  • other magazines or publications

6. AI-Generated Content

If AI tools were used in the creation of submitted work, contributors must disclose the extent of that usage during submission.

RiffRaff Magazine reserves the right to decline AI-generated or AI-assisted submissions at editorial discretion.

7. Compensation

Unless otherwise stated:

  • Submission does not guarantee monetary compensation.

  • Contributor copies, promotional features, digital access, or other forms of compensation may be offered depending on the project, publication format, sponsorships, or issue budget.

Specific compensation terms, if applicable, will be discussed upon acceptance.

8. Content Standards

RiffRaff Magazine reserves the right to reject submissions that include:

  • hateful or discriminatory content

  • plagiarism

  • exploitative or illegal material

  • malicious misinformation

  • non-consensual explicit content

  • spam or promotional abuse

Dark, experimental, political, emotional, controversial, or mature themes alone are not grounds for rejection.

9. Liability

Contributors are solely responsible for the content they submit.

By submitting work, contributors agree to indemnify and hold harmless RiffRaff Magazine from claims arising from:

  • copyright disputes

  • ownership disputes

  • defamation claims

  • unauthorized use of third-party material

10. Withdrawal of Submission

Contributors may request withdrawal of unpublished submissions by contacting the editorial team prior to publication.

Once work has been published, removal requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
